Whale and Baby Blanket

I made these together so that they matched each other and the preferred colors of the mom-to-be. I can make a similar set of blanket and toy to match the colors of any nursery, any theme or animal or character. A set will cost around $50. Contact me on the Mad Crocheter's Tea Party Facebook page.

Horrible Little Oven Mitt

Alfred loves science fiction and he follows the blog of science fiction writer David Brin. The author has written several critiques of the philosophy of Star Wars and in one he famously declared the character Yoda to be a horrible little oven mitt.  So of course I had to design and crochet one for Alfred for Christmas. Now Yoda can genuinely helpful, for a change.

Spiderman Hat-Help Brad Beat Burkitts

I made this hat for a very special kid, Bradley, who is fighting Burkitts Leukemia. Bradley is family of a good friend of mine. His family could use some financial help so that they can spend more much needed time with Brad. You can help Brad at www.gofundme/apggjo
Here is another photo of the hat as worn by my Julian, thanks Julian!

Finally! Hand painted signs.

Okay, I've wanted to do this project for quite a while, but it's sometimes difficult to set up all the painting stuff in this busy house. It was well worth the temporary chaos and I'm very happy with how these first few turned out. There are more to come and I can paint a custom sign for you if you like. As always, please use my Facebook page to contact me, thanks!

Sugar Skull Shoulder Bag

I've always loved Halloween things that are both creepy and cute and now I've discovered that Day of the Dead has lots of charming things that fit that description too, both creepy and cute and they make fall feel like the most exciting and fun season of the year. Sugar skulls in particular are very popular and I love to crochet different kinds of them. I saw this cute pattern for a shoulder bag in the book "Beastly Crochet" by Brenda K. B. Anderson. Mine is a little different as I relied on my memory of the picture in the book more than the pattern itself.

Update! Here's another one, this time with a striped strap, different flowers and a little bigger.
Oh and a chihuahua who wonders if the flowers smell pretty.

Thread Earrings

These were based on a pattern by Kathryn White in Interweave Crochet Summer 2014. They wear pretty glam.
And here are a couple of my own designs based on motif patterns found in "Beyond the Square- Crochet Motifs" by Edie Eckman.

Her majesty E. asked me if I could make a crown like a knitted one that she saw. As you wish. This one is crocheted with rhinestones added.

Nautical Knot Bracelets

These are done with hemp and something we called macrame' in the olden days. I used a lighter color hemp and some nautical charms and they are just as appropriate for a day of sailing as they are for a love-in at the beach.

Thread Crochet Jewelry

I made these thread flower bracelets from a pattern by Tatyana Mirer in Crochet!Magazine April 2014

And then I had an inspiration to create a necklace with these charming jade Buddhas and a thread crocheted lotus.A customer told me it was "full of feminine energy." :)

You can find them at Downtown Sol.

Mermaids!

Summer is coming and our thoughts turn to the beach, what will we find there? Sea glass? A shiny perfect shell? Or a friendly mermaid swimming up to the nearby rocks, perhaps to warm her skin in the sun?
They are available at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum gift shop.

New pictures!

Another update, September 2014: Two more new mermaids!
Meet Teal and Orchid basking in the late summer sun sporting long locks of shiny metallic infused hair.
