Crocheted Skulls

In Mexico and here in parts of the U.S. we celebrate Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead on the 2nd of November, it corresponds to the All Soul's day following All Saint's Day but it also has roots in an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess of the underworld called Mictecacihuatl. These skulls are fashioned after the sugar skulls used to adorn the altars dedicated to the dead on this holiday.
